It's everybody's non-pollutionary, anti-institutionary, pro-confectionery factory of fun!

As its the summer holidays and the kids are free to vandalize, steal and generally be a pain in the arse for 6 weeks I decided to keep Emily amused by taking her to see the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" movie on Monday. (not that Emily is at the age where she gets up to the above shenanigans)

But it got me thinking about the old version of "Charlie...". I watched it a few months ago and was generally taken aback with one or two scenes. Especially the boat scene........ just take a few moments here to think about it....(scary or what!)...... forget hiding behind the sofa during Dr Who and the Daleks, forget Zammo in Grange Hill scabbling on the floor for his last bit of smack.... you'll never do drugs again after the trippy trip Wonka takes you on.

I know some people may think the Umpa Lumpas are politically incorrect but it does give professional little people something else to play when Snow White sods off for the summer break.
To sum up, no one said it better than Veruca Salts with "I want an Umpa Lumpa. I want an Umpa Lumpa NOW Daddy!".... It would make a great conversational piece at dinner parties.
