German MotoGP

Did you watch the GP? No, I don't mean that dull as arse procession on four wheels with no overtaking where that cheating German bastard always wins. Well, I'm on about the REAL GP, where the riders get upto speeds of 215 MPH on machines that go from 0 to 100 mph in less than 3 seconds.

Thats MotoGP. No specially hardened carbon fibre super stressed safety monocoques' here

Anyhow, my hero Valentino Rossi came in first again at the German GP. The man is a lord. He honed his bike skills at Pizzahut in Walton-on-thames delivering around the area....(thats him in the piccy...he took the pizza box off on the warm up lap).

If you want excitement in your motor racing then have a butchers at MotoGP. I guarantee it'll have you on the edge of your seat.

Check out last seasons DVD. It's a bleenin' corker!

Hit & Run

A quick DVD review...

Mr Moore generally knows his stuff about films, so it's not unusual for me to search out and watch one of his recommendations.

His latest recommendation was The Machinist starring Christian Bale. Mr Moore suggested it was in the same vein (possibly) as Momentum. So an off chance trip to Blockbuster had me clutching "The Machinist"....

Now, Momentum is one of my all time fav films so I had high hopes for The Machinist. Well, it's not in the same league as Momentum....no way. It's very slow..... very very slow.... yes, I think I get it about not having any sleep.... yes yes, I see where you're going with the "man who doesn't exist"....... just get on with it, please.

I dunno 3 maybe 4 hours later it suddenly got interesting, then all of a sudden, the credits start rolling.... Hmmmmm..... oh well never mind then.

Overall, I'd give it 6/10. Yes, it grinds on for far too long, but the end bit makes up for it a tad. Dunno about it being comparable to Momentum, I found it a lot more like Fight Club.

It's everybody's non-pollutionary, anti-institutionary, pro-confectionery factory of fun!

As its the summer holidays and the kids are free to vandalize, steal and generally be a pain in the arse for 6 weeks I decided to keep Emily amused by taking her to see the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" movie on Monday. (not that Emily is at the age where she gets up to the above shenanigans)

But it got me thinking about the old version of "Charlie...". I watched it a few months ago and was generally taken aback with one or two scenes. Especially the boat scene........ just take a few moments here to think about it....(scary or what!)...... forget hiding behind the sofa during Dr Who and the Daleks, forget Zammo in Grange Hill scabbling on the floor for his last bit of smack.... you'll never do drugs again after the trippy trip Wonka takes you on.

I know some people may think the Umpa Lumpas are politically incorrect but it does give professional little people something else to play when Snow White sods off for the summer break.
To sum up, no one said it better than Veruca Salts with "I want an Umpa Lumpa. I want an Umpa Lumpa NOW Daddy!".... It would make a great conversational piece at dinner parties.

WFH - Day 2

Twas another "WFH" day today (thats "Work From Home" for the non privileged ones amongst us).

I'm apparently lucky enough to have a well paid job within the IT industry which affords me the privilege of playing games on the company laptop from the relative security of my scratcher. It's not always great, sometimes its bloody fantastic.

During my "lunch" hours (nope, thats not a typo) I ran a small errand for the "Relatively Inexpensive Nanny" to the pet shop to get some cat food. Normally a very dull experience, mainly because the pet shop in question doesn't actually sell pets..... well not pets I'm used to anyhow. No cat or dogs, just schoals of little fish, locally caught sparrows, monkeybirds and battery hens. Anyhow, today was different. They had hamsters!

I've never owned a hamster, or even wanted to own a hamster..... but have you seen the convoluted condominiums you can get for them? Amazing to say the least. I was so engrossed in all these little compartments I just had to get one.... and I guess a hamster too would come in useful.

So, I'm now the owner of a female hamster and a huge feck-off adventure park for the little beast. Not got a name yet, although Em wants to call her "Angelina" after the Ballerina Rodent cartoon..... not a bad name really.

What a tit....

I managed to recover my Flickr account. I had a brain wave and looked in my browsers password manager list...and hey presto it was there! I'd somehow missed a dot (.) from my e-mail address.

It's all fixed now, so I guess I can begin the task of uploading some of my pictures.... hey-ho

Ok, so here we go....

I've known about blogs for some time now, and I already have a moblog which is fine but not what I really wanted. After reading a mates blog and how he's integrated some of his photos into it I thought I'd give it a go.

So, here's my blog. All set up and ready to go... almost. You see 'I've had a bit of a problem with my Flickr account. Somehow, I managed to setup an account, be impressed with it, and pay for a Pro account so I can bore the sore bits of anyone with all my piccys. Only thing is, I did all of this with a mis-typed e-mail address and now cant log back into the account. To all intense and purpose I've buggered it good and proper.

I've just e-mailed Flickr about my stupidness, only have to wait for an answer..... and ridicule.
